Self Portrait: Shipwrecked

Maaan this brings me back to my teens. Back when the first "cuerpo" series of paintings started and I really loved the concepts that unravelled. I've been trying hard to improve my technique this last year or so and you can't imagine how happy I am to be creating more of these.

Living in long island is bittersweet for me. I feel like I have a second chance at experiencing things yet at the same time there are memories that bring me to a dead end kind of feeling. I think I have one of those faces that can't decide which expression it wants to show. That even when I'm smiling the camera will still catch a shine that reads something else.

And in my Frida Kahlo-esque fashion to document these moments here is a self portrait..haven't done one of these in awhile. Part planned, part purely experimental. Adobe Photoshop CS3 + tablet (:
